Celebrating Our First Anniversary
Marc and I had a great, relaxing weekend to celebrate our first anniversary last weekend. We really didn't do too much and it was GREAT. Saturday we got up and went to brunch with Byron and Jess and James and Byron's parents. Great to finally meet them - and brunch was awesome too, some little French place that was amazing. Folks, we definitely have a new place to take you to eat! The rest of Saturday was great too - we walked over to Tribeca Tranquility Spa where I managed to score a SICK (and by "sick" I mean heavily discounted) deal through Lifebooker.com on a 90 minute couples massage - wowza! It was maybe the best massage I've ever had - I mean - there are just no words...it was that good. By the time we got out, the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay (sp?) had made it all the way up to us and it was pouring...ironically, NYC was under a tropical storm warning, weird - right? So we went home and hung out for awhile....did a lot of nothing - watched college football, fantastic Saturday. We actually went out in the pouring rain to see the Florida game because our satellite kept cutting in and out - the pic below is us in our local sports bar/restaurant (Jake's Saloon) where we were 2 of about 5 total people in the entire place.
We had a good time though...after we dried off! Sunday was church and dinner at Tello's - another of our local favorites - a great Italian place around the corner... and a giant surprise from Daniel and Erika. Look what they sent us -
Is it awesome or what!?!?!?! We love it! It looks GREAT in our place - there was this blank wall that has needed something for a very long time and viola - now we have the perfect spot for our new sign! Thanks guys - we love it and it's very special knowing that it came from y'all. Marc's already talking about how we can pass it down to our kids...my response was, "what kids"? =)
Moving on to Monday - we both took off! We spent the whole day together - got up and went to breakfast and then went over to the Museum of Modern Art. Here are some of the cool pictures of things we saw at the museum. One of the coolest things was a huge exhibit on Salvador Dali but no pics were allowed there so didn't get to take any to share.
Monday night Marc took me to The Chart House (a Landry's restaurant way up here - woohoo!) in Weehawken, New Jersey....or basically just on the New Jersey side of the Hudson. It was awesome - great food, beautiful scenary and best of all, me and my husband celebrating our first anniversary together. Can you believe that the top of our cake made it all the way from Houston? Thanks Mom and Dad for packing well to send it up - it tasted great!
Maddie and Dexter got us some champagne to celebrate - it was on my dresser when I got out of the shower. Those pups - they are great! ;-)
Not sure if you can see my necklace but that's my present from my hubby - he did a really good job and surprised me...definitely wasn't expecting anything like that!
Here we are with our cake top - looks like it's been through a journey, for sure but it was really great. Rustika still makes the best cakes, even a year after they are made they taste great!
On the way out, we stopped to take these shots across the water. Because we were so close to September 11th, we were able to see the light shining from ground zero in remembrance of the two towers that fell... It's an eery, beautiful sight and definitely reminds me to be thankful for all I have and remember all those who've lost their lives for our country. It's amazing to me how high that light shines...looks like it's going straight up to heaven.
So that's my anniversary report! We had a great time and were able to just enjoy each other's company, reminisce a little, miss our friends and family a lot, and be thankful for how lucky we are to have found our soulmate. Thanks to all of you who sent us cards and emails and gifts - we appreciate it all, mostly we appreciate you remembering our special day.
I Love You Marc Magnone - Thanks for making our first anniversary our best date yet... =)
