I did it!
So this Sunday was the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5k...and I did it! I finished the full run, no stopping, which is the first time I've run full through a 5k in a very long time! It felt so good to get out there - it was amazing to the both of us to see just how many people showed up, hence how many people this disease affects. Cynthia Nixon from Sex and the City (Miranda) was the Grand Marshall so she was actually there, giving us a motivational speech...but no, I didn't get to see her. But I got to hear her - so hey, that was still cool... I should explain why I couldn't see her...there were 25,000 people there! So many people that we had 3 different start times: 1-Survivors and elite runniers, 2-all other runners, 3-walkers. It was an awesome run, straight through the center of midtown NYC and into Central Park, past the reservoir which is the first time I've ever seen it. It's beautiful! We had a fun day and it was of course, for a great cause. Thanks to all of you who donated - I'm proud to announce that I surpassed my goal and have raised $345 up to this point! Remember, you can still donate on my page up until October 31, 2008...so just in case you forgot and still are interested in giving a little to help raise money to find a cure, please be sure and donate before then! See my previous blog (Help Me Fight Breast Cancer!) post for information on how to donate.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT...My Husband, Grannie, Mom and Dad Magnone, Rachel, Les and Bill, Cara and Daniel, Edna and Maggie!
