New York City Weekend
Well, get ready for picture overload - I did my best to keep a camera with me all weekend so I could post pictures of "a day in the life of the New York City Magnone's...." Hope you all enjoy. We had a great weekend - Friday night we went to a place called RUB BBQ - get ready Texans, this place will knock your socks off! I don't like BBQ so you know if I thought it was great, it must have been smokin' good! Headed to Billy's after that - our staple cupcake indulgence that we are currently only allowed to have on weekends (house rules - if not, we'd eat them every day). Then headed home and passed out - below you can see the dogs in their new favorite sleeping position. Can't help but laugh - they sleep like this for HOURS!
Saturday morning we started working on "the wires" - the boxes and boxes of wires Marc needs to hook up our house... Looks like we just moved in all over again - yes, I know... But the end result was totally worth it.
Here's Marc playing with his wires - see how excited he is...it just makes him happy, he can't explain to me why...
The dogs snoozed on the rolled up carpet as we worked on getting the place together...they sure do get to sleep a lot - not fair.
Soooo - here's the final product - what do y'all think?
That's Marc expressing his happiness over finally getting the place together.... =)
Since I was posting pics of the inside, figured I should put up some of our block....check out the ads on those buildings - nothing like living across the street from giant naked people! Yes, that is a bare butt.............
These yellow flags are our building - The Tate
So, now that you are all updated on our living 'digs', I'll continue the story of our weekend.... We were planning to head out to Queens to meet the famous Mike Hartell, at least famous in my book... This was Marc's first manager at Clear Channel when he was in Raleigh and I've heard about him for ever. So - in the process of getting ready, Marc was gettin' some 'sugar' from Dexter and BAMMMM, his tooth accidentally ripped Marc's nose in half!!! Sound familiar Dad? Dad's injury was on his ear and was about as bad as Marc's - Dex has a lot of victims, unfortunately....they are all accidental! Anyway, here's some pics of the nose. We couldn't decide whether to go to the ER or head to Queens...after much deliberation, Queens won out....
Yep - split in half - can you see it?
So, after doctoring up the nose, we headed to the Long Island Railroad for our big trip to meet Mike in QUEENS BABY!
This is Queens! The Queen Beauty Supply store kinda cracked me up so I decided to take the picture...
Good times with Marc and his manager - we really did have a lot of fun and it was our first night out here in NYC...and we went out of the city for it!
Queens was fun but I was pumped about Sunday - Marc and I had decided to go to Chelsea Market, this AWESOME market place that has every type of food you could ever want along with a little shopping - it's fantastic and I have never been anywhere like it before. It's an old bakery from 1890 that has been converted into this amazing market with a bread shop, fresh seafood shop, a full blown italian market, a dairy farm and so much more! The bottom floor is all retail and the top floors are offices like MLB, The Food Network, the Oh! Channel, etc. You can check out more about it as http://www.chelseamarket.com/ . This place is about ten blocks from our apartment - so close that it could get me in a lot of trouble!
The picture below is one of the Food Network studios, this particular one is where Emeril's live show is taken each week....
This is part of the Italian market - it's so cool.... We bought italian sausage and fresh parmesan cheese, smoked gouda cheese and foccacia cheese (Michelle's dream - so many cheeses!) as well as some Illy espresso and some other things - Marc felt right at home and had lots of stories to share about all the Italian foods he has had over the years between his grandparent's house and his own home because of his Mom's awesome Italian cooking!
Above is a waterfall that divides Chelsea Market into two halves and below is the bread shop (Amy's Bread) where we bought some delicious Italian bread that we enjoyed our goodies with!
Another awesome shop here is the dairy farm that operates throughout the building - the store front is called Milk Bar and we had a little dessert and coffee here, as you can see.... So good - if you can't have Blue Bell in NYC, at least you can have homemade ice cream!
So, that's how we spent our Sunday midday and then we took the dogs to the park... The park is just down the street from our apartment - less than a block away, right beside Chelsea Piers, a huge sports complex - perfect for two sports geeks living up here.
I couldn't stop laughing at this dog so I had to take a pictures....Marc said he reminded him of a grandmother, we won't say who's!
After the dog park, we headed back to the apartment and because the weather was so happy, we grilled out on top of the building. It was so pretty up there - we grilled some pork chops and our italian sausage, made some spaghetti and had a delicious meal...perfect setting for the SuperBowl. Go Giants! =) Below are a few pictures from the rooftop...
That's all for now folks - enjoy! We miss you all but look forward to seeing you in New York!
