See Ya Later Houston - Hello New York City
Sooo - we are FINALLY here, together and all freezing our tails off (some of us literally) in New York City! Marc is into his third week of work and enjoying his new team and I am in job search/fix up the apartment/dog sit/explore NYC mode.... It's awesome!
Below are some of the pictures from our last couple of days in Houston - Maddie and Dexter searching for anything they can find to bark at - we're hoping to get one of the windows here set up so that they can climb out and look out. As of now, they've made a little home for themselves in the brown chair in the corner - this enables them to get into as much as possible and when finally tired, pass out and gain just enough energy to race from one room to another back to the other and back again.
As you can see - Dex and Maddie needed to make sure they weren't going to be left behind - hence the sleeping in the suitcase and sad eyes begging to come along. They got their wish - a 3.5 hour plane flight in their own little crate stuffed up under the chairs in front of mine and Marc's feet - it was quite the adventure!
I wanted to post these interim pictures of our place as we work to get it set up - Marc had already been here a week and done a ton of stuff but there was and still is so much left to do.... Take a look - see for yourself.
Notice all the places to walk.....oh wait, there aren't any! Maddie and Dex finally gave up and passed out on the rolled up carpet that we've since determined to be too big for our place - it is now stored in one of our two storage spaces across the street......SO lucky that is so close!
This is Marc - stuck - in our bedroom....behind the wardrobe he was trying to get situated. Things are a little tight - to say the least. =)
Below is Marc's organizational masterpiece - we turned a plain closet into a fantastic pantry and storage space........maybe we should start an organization show - Marc would be a star at this!
Dex and Maddie hybernating in their new favorite chair - this is their napping spot...
THESE are CUPCAKES from Billy's Bakery - 9th and 21st - we are at 10th and 23rd - so, point is, it's just around the corner! I treated myself after the awesome interview I had yesterday - hoping to have a few more of those and get a job sometime soon. Don't mind that empty spot - it was too good to wait for taking the picture - ate one first, then took it!
These are some really bad pictures out the window of what our view is - really the view is much better but these were quick shots per Erika's insisting upon seeing the view - no excuses. For those who know NYC and also are Devil Wears Prada groupies, see the New Yorker sign......remember, the movie? Who does Andy want to work for?
Last in our little picture album, Dexter and Maddie trying on their new "parkas" so they won't freeze anymore. We had sweaters for them but it's really been so cold, they needed something thicker so....here we are. Poor things have been shaking every time we went out - especially the day that was a high of 15 with a windchill factor anywhere between 5 above and 5 below - CRAZINESS!!!
So, that's what's going on in the NYC Magnone household - we are doing great and looking forward to finally getting everything TOTALLY SETTLED so that we can actually enjoy the city. Hope to hear from you and see many of you very soon - love and miss you all!
P.S. Yes, for those who've asked, Heath Ledger did live about 10 blocks from our apartment and no, I was not one of those crazy people stalking his house and taking pictures of this terrible tradgedy..... Just to clarify for anyone who has asked..... =)
